Hampshire Cultural Trust has announced the next of its Founding Corporate Partners, Southampton Solent University, today (20 June 2016).
Established as a university in 2005, Southampton Solent University, based in the heart of the city, is a community of learners where aspiration, innovation and success are supported and celebrated.
The new partnership has seen the university donate £2,500 to the trust as a Founding Corporate Partner. The two organisations will work collaboratively to encourage and nurture educational and cultural excellence in the county, which will be mutually beneficial to both organisations and their people.
The sharing of certain resources and environments will ensure Southampton Solent University students can further develop their learning and skills while aiming for placements within Hampshire Cultural Trust’s heritage venue operations, in the curating and care of collections or commercialising museums and marketing. The university’s Better Life Chances programme will also play a central role in the partnership, paving the way for shared research between the institution and Hampshire Cultural Trust.
Deputy vice-chancellor at Southampton Solent University, Jane Longmore, said: “Southampton Solent University is delighted to become a Founding Corporate Partner of Hampshire Cultural Trust. As a university, we are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in education that enables learners from all backgrounds to fulfil their potential and to become enterprising citizens and responsible leaders.
“This partnership will enable us to jointly improve learning opportunities for students through research and placements at the Trust and to thereby contribute towards economic and social prosperity in the region.”
Janet Owen, chief executive of Hampshire Cultural Trust, said: “We are thrilled to announce that Southampton Solent University has come aboard as a Founding Corporate Partner. Like the university, we are determined to support and promote Hampshire’s education, arts, culture and heritage.
“We plan to extend our corporate sponsorship further and welcome organisations in the county to come on-board.”
