Carswell Gould is continuing its growth with two new senior appointments to meet increasing demand for its services.

Ian Murray has joined as associate director of media after a 19-year stint as editor of the Southern Daily Echo where he oversaw the newspaper and its online edition, which was read by over one million users a month.

Ian is combining his role at Carswell Gould alongside his work with the Society of Editors, where he is the deputy executive director. The organisation has over 400 members and promotes freedom of expression as well as highlighting the vital role that news plays in modern-day Britain.

New PR account director Jen Humm has joined Carswell Gould after working in the PR team at P&O Cruises for four and a half years. Before that, she worked as account director at CitrusPR for five years.

Jen is heading up the PR team and setting direction for all clients to ensure maximum impact, while Ian provides unrivalled connections with the media and influencers as well as decades of experience in how to maximise media opportunities.

Ian said:

“I look forward to using my experiences of the newsroom to help Carswell Gould’s clients secure high impact coverage in print and online media as well as assisting them with any media issues."

Jen said:

“This is an exciting time to be joining award-winning Carswell Gould. I am relishing the challenge of working closely with our growing client base - including recent wins Rinkit.com and Events in the Sky - to deliver the best results for them.”

The two hires have come to the team less than a year after Carswell Gould was shortlisted in the CIPR PRide Awards for ‘Outstanding Small Public Relations Agency’. On top of this, the agency recently celebrated international success after receiving gold and platinum Hermes Creative Awards for two of its integrated marketing campaigns. The agency’s senior account manager Amy Grinstead was also recently voted as one of the top six young PR professionals in the UK.

Gareth Miller, managing director at Carswell Gould, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Ian and Jen to the team. The agency is extremely ambitious and prides itself on delivering measureable results for our clients and helping them grow.

“These appointments will add to the strength of our team and ensure that we build on our reputation as the most effective agency in the south.”
