With every change Facebook makes to its algorithms, it seems fewer and fewer posts are being shown in customers’ newsfeeds. A study by EdgeRank Checker suggests the percentage of fans that each post organically reaches might be as low as 6.51%.
So how can you get your posts seen by more people?
1. Include original, colourful photos. Facebook and customers favour new content over old. The newsfeed has changed to be as photo friendly as possible, so take advantage of it with eye-catching images. Some content could look much better as a graphic; but be aware that too much text in an image will harm your reach.
2. Be engaging. Ask a question. Reply to comments and continue the conversation. Old posts can be sent straight back to the top of the newsfeed if someone comments on them.
3. Give a call to action without explicitly asking for comments, likes or shares. Posts with polls, caption competitions or where users are asked to fill in a blank are an effective way to get users commenting on posts.
4. Post more often and experiment with posting at different times of day, especially if you have an international audience. Posts at off-peak times might have less competition on the newsfeed but peak times will target the biggest amount of users.
5. Share quality information, and don’t just promote yourself. This will help you post more often and become a trusted, valued source for customers.
6. Be more personal. Show customers that there are people behind the brand and Facebook page. You could post behind-the-scenes photos or a little information about a member of your staff.
7. Jump on trending topics shown in the sidebar of Facebook. Some brands are great at reacting to these with funny, engaging posts and images that link to the topic at hand.
8. Take part in cross-promotion. If another Facebook page shares your content, all their fans will also see some of your posts in their newsfeed, as long as they are relevant.
9. Promote and boost posts. Of course, to give the best chance of posts being viewed by more customers, you must pay for the privilege. With the ability to target your posts to a specific audience, these can be effective at driving traffic to your website or gaining new fans and customers.
By implementing these tips you should create more engaging, likeable and shareable posts, which will naturally increase your Facebook posts’ visibility.
