Following the success of CG’s Creative Dates campaign last Valentine’s Day, the agency has once again flexed its creative muscles and released Date Escape.
The app, which works across mobile platforms, helps people out of awkward situations including a bad date and being late for a business meeting. By calling upon a range of fictional scenarios, from an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister to helping to deliver a baby, the app’s user is equipped with the perfect excuse for any situation.
Ed Gould, CG’s creative director, said:
“We’re thrilled to unleash Date Escape on the world and the timing couldn’t be better with Valentine’s Day just around the corner. As people prepare to endure dodgy dates, we’ve got them covered for any eventuality.
“Date Escape is just another fantastic example of how creativity is at the very heart of CG and with every area of the business pitching in, it’s a very exciting integrated campaign.”
Date Escape was originally created by CG’s web and design teams at a PubHack event and was very well-received by national and local media, as well as winning an award for best design on the day.
Phil Bennett, web team lead, said:
“Coming together as experts in each area of marketing and developing creative ideas to a fixed brief is what we thrive on at CG. I’m delighted with the finished app, and I really can’t wait to see how it gets used by people escaping awkward situations.”
The app was developed using the Sencha Touch Javascript framework and utilises the Twitter API and Twillio for SMS and phone call functionality.
The latest release makes the app available to wider audiences, and with improved functionality and scenarios, it’s the perfect answer for avoiding Valentine’s Day disasters.
