CG’s creative director Ed Gould shared expert knowledge on why creativity is the driver for success in 2015 at Hampshire Chamber of Commerce’s Creative Business Workshop this week.
Ed’s presentation was delivered to representatives from the creative industries across the south at the event, which aimed to shine a light on the creative sector and celebrate the roll of creativity in business.
Ed said: “I was really pleased to see a huge cross section of organisations and individuals attending and speaking at this excellent event.
“Charles Freeman from Creative Network South got the event off to a great start. Following that, Graham Baldwin, Vice-Chancellor at Southampton Solent University explained the role education plays in driving creativity and CG chairman and CEO of the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, Stewart Dunn, linked creativity to business in his presentation titled ‘Engaging with business’.
“It was also great to hear a friend of CG’s speaking on the day. Dan Crow runs A space in Southampton, and this organisation fights hard to bring culture and art to the city and showcase the amazing work that takes place here.
“Another friend of CG’s, Chris Cooper of KnowNow Information, shared some fascinating stats and figures on the region’s digital economy and explained that getting involved with events already happening in the area is key to staying ahead of the curve.
“A run-down of the Creative Apprenticeship programme by Jane Bryant of Artswork was made even better by the attendance of an apprentice called Elspeth. Her description of the value of young people in an organisation and how it can drive creativity was the best part of the day for me and really got to the heart of the problem: people are too closed to new ideas.
“That was a theme I also led with in my presentation ‘Creative Business Edge’. I really believe a business without creativity at its heart is as dead as a dodo.”
