Twenty five thousand people wrapped up warm and visited Port Solent to eat, drink, pick up gorgeous gifts and feel the Christmas cheer at its annual Festival of Christmas including Paralympian and Strictly Come Dancing 2018 contestant Lauren Steadman.
The festival included more than 90 market stalls, seasonal food and drink, live music and festive entertainment which was enjoyed by hundreds of families from the region.
Visitors were treated to live music from Portsmouth-based ukulele group The Pompey Pluckers, Live at Home choir and singers from Fine Voice Academy, as well as street theatre from The Squirrels.
Sunday saw even more live music performances, including a Christmas singalong with Igloo Music Choir and a very special performance from Highbury Area Band. Plus, street theatre from The Twins and balloon modelling from Matthew Garrett.
The popular Christmas market which saw a 14 per cent increase in visitors from 2017, featured more than 90 stalls, each offering unique and handmade goods, giving visitors the opportunity to pick up something extra special for their loved ones whatever the weather.
Other entertainment which visitors took advantage of during the weekend included Father Christmas and The Snowman costume characters, and juggling, circus skills and magic from Jack Frost.
Lisa Fowler, events and Marketing co-ordinator at Port Solent, said: “I’m delighted that so many people visited to enjoy the festivities at our Festival of Christmas and it was great to see the local community coming together. We had some fantastic live music this year which was a lovely way to get people singing along and truly in the Christmas spirit while they shopped for Christmas presents for loved ones.”
