Carswell Gould helps raise awareness of mental health by publicising brave Everest climb In April 2007 Stuart Baker-Brown will become the world's first person to climb Everest with paranoid schizophrenia. Stuart will struggle against sub-zero temperatures, fatigue and a battle with his own mind to defeat 10 years of schizophrenia and prove that our mind is our biggest hurdle.
Determined to prove that people with a diagnosis should not be disregarded or treated as inadequate or unintelligent, Stuart wants to highlight the fact that many sufferers of mental illness are kind, educated and articulate people who still regularly experience discrimination from society.
To help raise awareness of the climb and gain more support for Stuart, Southampton communications agency Carswell Gould is donating its PR and Marketing services for free. The team have already designed a fantastic website and negotiated a year's free membership and personal training for Stuart at one of the South's leading health clubs ROKO.
Stuart Baker-Brown says: “Everest is symbolic of the mountain of struggle I have had to overcome to regain control over my illness and to start living a meaningful life. I am extremely grateful to Carswell Gould for their help in publicising this event, their involvement will prove to be invaluable”.
Managing Director Gill Gould says: “What Stuart is doing is extremely courageous and in our eyes it makes him a true champion - we are 100% committed to helping him and hope that more and more people will get involved with this important expedition”.
