Worldwide logistics company PSP has secured one of the sailing world’s most prestigious logistics contracts for the fourth time running.
The firm has been appointed Official Logistics Partner for the Clipper 2015-16 Round the World Yacht Race, which starts at St Katharine Docks, London, on August 30.
The biennial Clipper Race is one of the world’s toughest endurance challenges and the only event of its kind which trains amateur sailors to circumnavigate the planet under the guidance of a professional skipper. Thecontract builds on PSP’s years of specialist experience in the sector, having been the Official Logistics Partner for the Global Ocean Race and logistics consultant to the America’s Cup.
PSP will again take charge of moving the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race containers 40,000 miles around the globe, as competitors battle it out for victory on the water. The task is an important one as the containers are filled with vital equipment, required for maintenance due to the gruelling nature of the eleven-month race.
In addition to providing the logistics, PSP will reprise its role this year as an official Team Sponsor. Last year its team, PSP Logistics, blogged live from around the world, keeping PSP’s customers and the wider public abreast of the latest news from the race.
This year its yacht will be skippered by local sailor, Max Stunell, who grew up in Portsmouth, and learnt to sail on the Solent near to PSP’s head office.
