ABP Southampton is once again opening up three of its car parks during Southampton Boat Show to raise money for three local charities (12/13 and 19/20 September).
Visitors will be able to park conveniently and with piece of mind at Ocean Gate, Pathfinder House and Platform car parks for £10 per day, every penny of which will go to its chosen charities.
The Society of St. James, a Hampshire-based homelessness charity, is the port's nominated charity of 2015. The money raised will also go to Wessex Cancer Trust, which provides local support for people living with or affected by cancer, and Solent Dolphin, a charity that takes people with disabilities on free trips out to sea on Southampton Water.
Steve Russell, security officer at the port, has helped to organise the charity car parking for over 13 years.
He said:
It's a delight to organise the charity car parks as everyone at ABP Southampton is so encouraging.
"It's a struggle each year to decide on which charities to support but these three are close to the hearts of many people at the port."
Nick Ridehalgh, port director ABP Southampton, said:
Southampton is set to welcome thousands of visitors to the Southampton Boat Show this year.
“If you're travelling in by car, why not park close to the action and know that every penny you spend on parking will go to worthy local causes."
