ShareUp is a conference set up by Moov2 that brings together creators from Southampton, with an aim to nurture collaboration and creation to try to generate more content from the area. Each month the conference delivers talks on how to conquer fears and how to best produce this content. There are also opportunities to network with other professionals and get feedback on work and content made.
Each month, the attendants are asked to set themselves a commitment where they promise to create a piece of content which they share with the rest of the group. Each time people partner up so that they can collaborate, get inspired and recieve feedback on their work. It is also an integral part of the commitment itself as it holds the creator accountable for the content they create.
ShareUp #3 was held at Southampton Solent University at the end of November. I personally had a vested interest in it as ShareUp #3 was not only at my University, I was one of the speakers. It was a chance to showcase my take on work with the Carswell Gould team to dig into the ‘Plastic Brain’ and try to discover the source of inspiration.
If you haven’t already heard the story of the ‘Plastic Brain’, check out creative director Ed’s blog

Hoping to find inspiration for everything I produce and become a sort of ‘Buddha of blogs,’ I went about the research in a way that I could use in my own content creation. I used the presenting opportunity to explain how working on this project had helped me with inspiration for my writing, and the effective ways I found inspiration to create.
There was also another talk on content best practice by, Adam Burt, who took on the challenge of NANOWRIMO or National Novel Writing Month with the aim of it is to write a novel in a month. From November 1, participants set a goal of a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 on November 30. The speaker also gave tips on how to focus written content, such as avoiding the use of the word ‘very’ which I think is actually a very very very interesting point and the importance of checking and editing your work.
ShareUp is a monthly conference and is open to anyone who is interested in creating content. It has been personally very helpful in giving me the push to start creating. My commitment for this month is to start creating more blogs and then stick to writing more articles.
Details of the next event will be posted soon.
