As an intern I feel it’s important to take on every opportunity that comes my way. So, when the opportunity came for me to assist our wonderful account manager Zaynab at a half day shoot for the Port Solent winter campaign, I jumped at the chance to help.
On arrival at a surprisingly sunny Port Solent, we met up with the models. We went first to Snow + Rock to choose winter wear which included coats, jumpers and woolly hats. Despite this being really fun and quite light hearted it was important that we stayed professional and selected the perfect outfits for the shoot.
Next we briefed the photographer on the shots we required for the campaign. Our brief to him was to get photos of the models enjoying their time at Port Solent. We also wanted to include the marina’s most visually striking spots, such as the boardwalk and restaurants. The main theme of the shoot was to make it a fun and friendly scene, with the models smiling, laughing and chatting. It was also important to give the perception of people enjoying a fun day out at Port Solent and enjoying what it had to offer.
With the models dressed in their winter outfits we headed straight to the first location. We sat them round a table framed by the attractive waterfront backdrop. We got great shots all through the day and we finished the shoot at the Watermark, one of the many beautiful waterside restaurants at Port Solent. Their big open fire and the jumpers from Snow + Rock helped us achieve a real winter warming feel to the photos. Gareth the strategic director, at Carswell Gould even let me direct part of this shoot which gave me a chance to show my creativity.
I really enjoyed working closely with Zaynab, Gareth, the photographer and the models. It was interesting to see what sort of thing an intergrated marketing agency does for its clients outside the office.
The photos are now already being used by us to promote Port Solent on its website and in social media, advertising and printed collateral.
