A national magazine which Carswell Gould was tasked with promoting through the GORE-TEX® Arctic Challenge has seen an increase in sales.

Powerboat and RIB Magazine’s sales have increased by 56 per cent overall and publishers say all signs are pointing towards further increases in future.

The magazine is rapidly becoming the largest marine title of its type on UK newsstands and latest figures show 66 shops in the UK completely sold out of a recent issue.

Hugo Montgomery-Swan, publisher and editor, said: “The increase in sales has chiefly been achieved through the success PBR is experiencing via its WHSmith distribution and the magazine having being accepted in WHSmith Travel. In terms of editorial PBR is now carrying, PBR is now the largest of all the marine newsstand magazines.”

Carswell Gould’s Managing Partner, Gill Gould, added: “We are delighted to see such success for Powerboat and RIB Magazine, particularly in light of so many printed publications struggling under the current climate. Part of our brief for the GORE-TEX® Arctic Challenge was to increase readership of the magazine by bringing the sport of powerboating to new people so this is fantastic news.”

The magazine, edited and owned by Hugo-Montgomery Swan, also launched an iTunes App version six months ago.

Gill concluded: “It is this kind of diversification into new markets and new technologies that makes the magazine such a success and Hugo such a delightful and exciting client to work with.”
