Hampshire company, New Milton Concrete Limited (NMCL), has been awarded a Kitemark for its production and supply of ready mixed concrete.
The firm, a subsidiary of New Milton Sand and Ballast, has been awarded the Kitemark (BS 8500) for its production and supply at the Hurn concrete plant.
The certification means the company will be able to tender for larger contracts and supply structural concrete to all major construction sites and house builders for the first time ever.
NMCL’s General Manager of Concrete, Steve Mayne, said: “Businesses are changing and the commercial market is becoming more competitive. The BSI Kitemark allows us to demonstrate that we are producing concrete to European standards. It also enables us to give confidence to our customers, an important part of our business.”
Mark Dixon, from the British Standards Institution, added: “Only businesses that can demonstrate a commitment to delivering professional standards are awarded the Kitemark.
“It is a rigorous and specialised license that only organisations performing at the top of their game and to the highest European standards can attain. Our congratulations go out to New Milton Concrete Limited and we look forward to seeing how its concrete business develops over the next few years.”
NMCL is already planning how it will develop its concrete business while adding to its commitment to the environment. It is looking to produce concrete with increased recycled materials to help reduce carbon footprint.
Managing Director, Trevor Poole, said: “Gaining the Kitemark has been a fantastic start to our 75th year in business and my congratulations go to Steve for all his hard work in attaining award.
“We are committed to providing the community with local, sustainable supplies and this Kitemark stands testament to that.”
