Apprentices, students, staff and employers were recognised for their outstanding achievements over the past academic year at the event, which saw performances from performing arts, production arts and technical theatre students.

Student successes from across a wide variety of subject areas were celebrated with awards for students and apprentices from many different qualifications and levels. Five students were also delighted and surprised to pick up special awards, the winners of which were announced on the night, for their outstanding effort and commitment.

In addition, three local businesses were honoured with employer recognition awards, for their commitment to the training and personal development of their future workforce through work experience and career advice.

City College Principal, Sarah Stannard, said:

“We are very proud of all our students and last night is proof that the region has many stars in the making, who have all gone the extra mile to succeed, through outstanding academic achievement, selfless acts of kindness and a steely determination to be the best.”

“Their hard work, with our support and guidance, has helped them to achieve their goals and given them a flying start to the rest of their lives.”

As usual the awards evening gave current students a chance to show off their skills to the audience as they were fully involved in the running of the event. Media students took care of filming and technical theatre students ensured the stage was set and showcased creative projection mapping. Performing arts students, David Westgate and Marnie Cole, read the award citations and catering and hospitality students prepared and served canapés and drinks.
