Visitors to arts venues across Hampshire are now contributing to local businesses and worthy charities every time they buy a cup of coffee.
Hampshire Cultural Trust, which operates museums, galleries and arts centres formerly run by the county council, is introducing Southampton-based Mozzo Coffee in its venues.
The ethical coffee brand, that invests 5 pence per kilo sold in development projects within coffee farming communities, is now on sale at The Willis Museum in Basingstoke, Westbury Manor and Ashcroft Arts Centre in Fareham.
Mozzo Coffee was formed in 2005 by Grant Lang, who created the world’s first solar and wind powered coffee cart. It was from this small yet remarkable cart that the adventure of Mozzo Coffee, the community hub of coffee and art began.
The move to introduce Mozzo Coffee at venues across Hampshire is part of Hampshire Cultural Trust’s bid to support local food and drink producers. It is a partner of Hampshire Fare and the two organisations work together to champion Hampshire as a centre of cultural excellence, from art and history to food and drink.
Janet Owen, Chief Executive of Hampshire Cultural Trust, said: “The county has so much to offer in terms of arts, history and culture and exactly the same can be said for its bustling food and drink industry. Our aim is to work with as many local producers as possible so visitors to our venues can sample the great products available on their doorstep.”
Grant Lang, founder of Mozzo Coffee, added: “We’re delighted to have our coffee on sale at some of Hampshire’s best cultural venues. Art and heritage is something very close to our hearts so it’s the perfect match for us.”
