Business leaders from Basingstoke are stepping out of the boardroom and into the Jurassic age later this month as they have a meeting with a difference.
On September 22, as a mark of support for the county’s arts and culture, Hampshire Chamber of Commerce will hold its Basingstoke Area Committee at the Dino Hunter exhibition at Milestones Museum, surrounded by animatronic dinosaurs, fossils and artefacts.
Dino Hunter is part of DINOFEST2015, a series of dinosaur-themed exhibitions being held at Hampshire Cultural Trust venues and SeaCity Museum in Southampton. The exhibition at Milestones features animatronic dinosaurs on loan from the Natural History Museum and has greeted thousands of visitors over the summer.
Stewart Dunn, CEO of Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “Arts and culture play a vital part in the UK’s business landscape, providing one billion jobs and contributing £28 billion to the economy every year. Hampshire has a huge part to play and it is encouraging to see world-class exhibits like this being brought right on our doorstep, attracting visitors from across the UK. Members of the board are very much looking forward to having their next meeting in this very unique setting.”
Janet Owen, chief executive of Hampshire Cultural Trust, added: “Our mission right from the start has been to champion, showcase and connect Hampshire’s culture and creative economy. There are so many opportunities for our county to become a world-leader and we are pleased to have the backing of organisations like Hampshire Chamber, which will help us achieve our goals.”
Dino Hunter is open until September 27. To find out more visit www.dinofest.co.uk
