GREAT excitement in the CG offices today as Laura and Gill went to Southampton City College this morning - to meet the Prime Minister. We weren't allowed to breathe a word about who was coming but as of the end of last week, we were working very hard to plan and organise the event. A CG and Southampton City College working party met very early on Friday morning to plan and confirm details - the PM's route through the college, the round table discussion to allow the PM, Ed Balls and John Denham to meet and talk to apprentices and their employers. The group also agreed what the branding should entail, and where were the best photo opportunities. CG then liaised with the PM's office to confirm final details and had to keep everything top-secret!
Gill Gould said: "All our time and hard work paid off and the event was a triumph. This is a real coup for the college. What a privilege to be chosen by the PM as the venue to launch National Apprenticeships Week and to be able to spread the word about what great work the college does. We have worked very closely with the principal, her office and the marketing department to make this event such a success and it's given us great return on investment. Coverage is coming in thick and fast from all areas; national, regional, local, trade, specialist, print, online and broadcast media have all picked up the story and we anticipate lots more."
