Results and figures just released show that Cowes Yacht Haven had one of its most successful weeks ever at Cowes Week, with six members of their dry sail fleet claiming first or second place in a number of classes, and Adam Gosling's Corby announced as the Black Group victor.
It was a bumper week of sailing at one of the oldest and largest regattas in the world and, once again, Cowes Yacht Haven was at the centre of it. From the 230 boats berthed in the marina each night, vying for their chance of victory on the open seas, to the thousands of people who enjoyed the après-sail entertainment, Cowes Yacht Haven was a hive of activity throughout the week.
As well as hosting visiting competitors, tourists and Island locals, the marina's annual berth holders and dry sail fleet raced especially well.
Adam Gosling's Corby 36, Yes!, competing in IRC Class 2, won not only his class but Black Group for the third year in a row and the coveted Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week Overall Winner Trophy for best performance at the regatta. This was Gosling's 26th year racing at Cowes Week and his fifth overall win in an IRC class in the last six years.
Peter Morton's JND 35, Salvo, won the IRC Class 3 with six points after coming first in four out of six races.
Sam Laidlaw's Aguila gained the overall winner title in the Quarter Ton series, pipping fellow Cowes Yacht Haven dry fleet, Louise Morton's Bullit, by just three points.
Jo Richard's H-Boat, Woof, also claimed first place in all her races and took home overall winner of the IRC Class 7.
It was a tight race in the Dragon series with Eric William's Ecstatic eventually claiming victory, with Julia and Graham Bailey's Aimee taking second, despite leading the table by two points on Saturday morning.
