Port Solent is set to take visitors to a galaxy far, far away with its new out of this world Comic Con extravaganza on Saturday.

The free event will see guests experience worlds and galaxies from their favourite movies, television shows and comic books, as well as having the chance to meet actors from some of the biggest sci-fi and adventure films. Stalls selling comics and movie merchandise and memorabilia will also be available at the showcase co-organised by Nerdageddon Events.

Visitors can look forward to engaging with costumed superheroes from custom movie and game prop makers Angel Effects for photo opportunities, including Iron Man, Batman, Deadpool, Captain America, Captain Jack Sparrow, Ghostbusters and Harley Quinn.

Families will be transported to the mean streets of Gotham City where they can admire the selection of Batmobiles on display, including the Batman Steamer from Podpad Studios. There will be a sprinkling of magic to proceedings with props from the Harry Potter films and 80s classics Gremlins and ET, as well as Stormtroopers from Star Wars to keep everyone in check.

Guests will also have to be on their guard as the risk of extermination will be high with collections of Daleks and Dr Who memorabilia from Invasion of the Daleks docking at the marina.

Confirmed actors attending include Michael Henbury, best known from Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Pam Rose from the original Star Wars will also be making an appearance.

There will be photo opportunities with over 60 professional costumers and cosplayers and the chance to see iconic cars including Bumblebee from Transformers and Lightning McQueen from Disney Pixar’s Cars. Prizes will also be handed out to the best amateur costumes.

Lisa Fowler, events manager at Port Solent said: “Our inaugural Comic Con event promises to be out of this world with it providing a feast of entertainment for all the family. We can’t wait to see the boardwalk filled with iconic characters from film and television interacting with everyone and having fun.

“We also have a choice of 17 bars and restaurants so there are plenty of places to refuel the squadron. We also offer free parking. So, come along to fight crime, save the galaxy or sail the seven seas.”

Comic Con Port Solent takes place from 11am-5pm on Saturday 17 June.
