The first day of Marketing Week Live took place yesterday at Olympia, bringing experts in marketing from across the UK and the world together under one roof.

CG's Hannah Attenburrow headed down to get the inside scoop and the latest marketing industry news...

The show was split into different areas of marketing expertise, from online marketing and insights into consumer behaviour to driving customer retention and data marketing.

The online marketing show area offered innovative ideas in digital marketing, how to transform online performance and how to deliver digital campaigns with real ROI - something CG has always been passionate about.

One of the most eye-catching areas was the The Marketing Week live arena, which showcased creative ideas in bringing brands to life through touch, taste, smell and sound. They included ice sculptures, scented air and interactive shop fronts.

Hannah said: "The industry is constantly evolving and thinking of new ways to create tactile experiences for consumers. While there was a lot of focus on digital marketing at the event, it was good to see that more physical tactics are continuing to be used and evolve."

Yesterday's global brands speaking at Centre Stage included the likes of Coca-Cola, Nokia and Lexus. Alongside the centre stage speakers were mini arenas where industry experts delivered talks about their area of expertise.

Hannah said: "I found the talk by Exact Target on insights into subscribers, fans and followers very interesting. According to the speaker, Nick Evans, the top motivation to subscribe to email marketing was to receive deals and free goods. The top reason for unsubscribing to email marketing was confusing and irrelevant content. We'll certainly be taking these insights forward to our clients at CG to improve their email marketing communications."
