CG awards prize to top marketing student

Rising marketing star of the future has been recognised as The Best Overall Student at a presentation at Carswell Gould.

CG welcomed Southampton Solent University student, Joanne Parrish, who received the highest overall grade on the MA Marketing Management course, achieving distinctions in several subjects including her dissertation project.

Jo was presented with a cash prize by sponsor and CG Partner, Gill Gould, who has supported the award for the past decade. CG Education Account Manager, Angela Loines and Mike Wilman from Solent University were also on hand to congratulate the student.

Mike, who taught Jo on the MA, said: “Jo’s excellent results are a testament to her dedication, hard work and commitment. She has managed the balance between work and study perfectly achieving outstanding results that place her among the top percentile in the country. She has built on the success of her research project last year where she achieved ‘Best Consultant Project’ and is going from strength to strength, recently securing a new role at London South Bank University.”

Jo said: “I have benefitted hugely by working while studying as it gave me a much better applied understanding. I was thrilled to achieve over 80% on my course and I was really surprised to win the award, so I am going to use the prize money to celebrate! I am looking forward to developing my career at London South Bank University and am keen to work within both the public and private sector.”

CG's Managing Partner Gill Gould, a guest lecturer in marketing at Southampton Solent University, praised Jo for her academic achievements. She said: “It’s great to meet the rising stars of marketing coming through and here at Carswell Gould we do everything we can to support them taking on regular work experience placements and speaking at University events. We hope Jo enjoys her prize and wish her all the best in her marketing career.”
