Center Parcs has worked with the UK’s leading activities provider, In2action, to develop a brand-new sensory adventure activity for families.

Sensory Adventure, at Elveden Forest, sees families exploring a truly unique woodland experience together to solve physical and mental challenges at a series of locations within the woods. The families test their senses of sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell as they complete a range of tasks within this fascinating environment.

Center Parcs has invested substantially in creating this unique, innovative and highly creative forest experience, transforming an unused area of woodland into a perfect and magical environment for the family adventure.

Karen Ross, managing director of In2action, led the creative team at In2action  to design the activity following extensive work with the Center Parcs team to bring its family and under 12s activity provision even further ahead of the game.

Karen said: “Center Parcs is renowned for having some of the best family-friendly activities and what sets them apart is they never rest on their laurels.

“Our knowledge of the holiday activities market meant we knew that ‘back to nature’ activities are becoming increasingly popular. Campaigns such as the National Trust’s ’11 Things to do Before you’re 11 ’ and Bear Grylls’ ‘Manifesto for Children’ have seen a resurgence in families going outdoors, building dens, climbing trees and exploring nature.

“With that in mind we worked with Center Parcs to design a brand-new activities programme and woodland environment that incorporated these types of pastimes and took them to a new level.”

In2action initially worked with Center Parcs to bring in a series of smaller woodland sessions, including woodland crafts and den building. Alongside creation of the new Sensory Adventure activity, In2action also trained more than 700 Center Parcs staff in guest service delivery and in how to run the new and bespoke activity sessions including Sensory Adventure, which is now officially on offer to guests at Elveden Forest.

Karen added: “The revamped woodland looks incredible and the Center Parcs team has expertly themed it to create a real sense of adventure for guests.”

Sue Goddard, Group Leisure Manager at Center Parcs, said: “It’s a true family adventure – it doesn’t matter if you are 6 or 60, you’re going to have fun on this activity and learn a few interesting facts along the way!  We have tried to create something that all guests can take part in together, based on nature, exploration, self-discovery and family interaction. It is a unique activity, encouraging families to explore by moving through a series of challenges and pitching their senses against our woodland creatures.”

In2action designs and runs activities programmes for some of the biggest companies in the UK and worldwide holiday industry, including TUI, First Choice and Hoseasons. It also provides training and recruitment for the holiday industry.
