CG helped bring a Flybe plane to life in LEGO® bricks at Southampton Airport last week (January 26 – 30).
15,000 LEGO bricks, 40 hours of solid building and a few dozen coffees were in the mix as CG created a buzz with its latest campaign for its client Hampshire Cultural Trust.
Working in collaboration with Bright Bricks, the UK-based professional LEGO building company, and Southampton Airport, the team helped to manage the build of Flybe’s iconic Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft in the airport’s passenger terminal in the run up to the ‘Bricks in Motion: The history of transport in LEGO® bricks’ exhibition at Hampshire Cultural Trust’s Milestones Museum later this month.
The airplane model was built at 1:20 scale, measuring approximately 1.8m long, with a wingspan of 1.4m. It was a complete replica of of the real-life jet - albeit no Flybe crew or passengers!
Ed Diment, the man behind the build from Bright Bricks, said:
"The LEGO build of the Flybe Dash 8 Q400 went really well and generated a lot of interest from travellers and airport visitors alike.
“Southampton Airport's terminal building was an unusual location to carry out such a build but it worked well and everyone was very pleased with the finished result.
“You could say that the time flew by."
CG’s PR account executive Rosie said:
“It was such a great day and the build generated so much interest from the thousands of people who pass through the airport. It was a huge hit, gaining coverage in key publications such as the Southern Daily Echo and ITV Meridian.
“We are really looking forward to the exhibition at Milestones Museum next month and getting involved with all of its attractions, especially seeing the LEGO rocket come to life.”
