Below, recent placement student Susannah Thomas, from Southampton Solent University, tells us what it’s like being on a work placement with CG.
“Working at Carswell Gould has been an adventure. It hasn’t just been about making teas and coffees, it was a chance to learn about real life media communications work.
“It wasn’t just office work either, I was lucky enough to become involved with a photocall where in a matter of days I could see the coverage online. I also got to work at a huge marine event, Seawork, where I got to know a client really well and help them out at their stand.
“Talking on the phones was my worst fear when I came into the agency, but my colleagues helped tell me what to say, and gave me the confidence. This will help me a lot in the future and this I am grateful for.
“I also learnt in depth about numerous social networks and how they benefit businesses more greatly than I thought. Now I feel very confident in social media and I will now incorporate this more into my daily life to help me build connections in my future career.
“The most rewarding thing was seeing everything that I had contributed to the agency really helped move their projects on, and I just felt so useful and needed. The atmosphere in the office itself was absolutely crazy, creative and cosy.
“Everyone was so kind, and if that wasn’t enough for me, there was a delightful little dog friend who always made me smile. I won’t ever forget this experience and I may have to pop in again and say hello.”
