The Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction, the UK’s only book award for fiction written by women, has recently announced the ‘Best of the Best’: a celebration to mark the prestigious event’s 20th anniversary.
The prize celebrates excellence, originality and accessibility in women’s writing throughout the world and the anniversary celebrations includes two weeks of programming, with BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour and a partnership with Waterstones.
The Carswell Gould team first worked with The Prize for Women’s Fiction in 2012, when Baileys needed a solution for its website. You can find out more about how this exciting project began here.
Since then, following the technology team’s ethos that great websites are never truly finished and should be seen as an ever-evolving entity, Carswell Gould has gone on to improve much of the functionality and usability of the site to provide users with an even better online experience.
In the run up to the 20th anniversary, Carswell Gould’s web developer Jackson Willis said: “We wanted to create something really memorable to celebrate such a special occasion. Our aim was to make the website friendlier to the end user so we made the content people wanted to see impossible to miss.”
Improvements to the website included implementing a creative content management system, alongside an Instagram channel allowing for exclusive behind-the-scenes content and competitions.
The prize winner will be announced on November 2 and will receive a limited edition bronze known as a ‘Bessie’, created by artist Grizel Niven, as well as a cheque for £30,000.
